Berklee Lowrey-Evans Radio Interview on WBEZ 91.5

Chileâs $2 billion HidroAysen project is a controversial hydroelectric dam complex that would flood almost 15,000 acres of Patagonian wilderness. Chileâs government says they need it to help double the countryâs energy output in the next 10 years. But activists against the dams have growing popular support to stop the project.

Berklee Lowrey-Evans, a Latin America program associate at International Rivers, which works to protect rivers and the communities that depend on them, discusses the project. Also, Lynsey Addarioâs photos for the New York Times, Time and National Geographic have won numerous awards. The photojournalist made news last March when she and three other journalists were detained in Libya. Lynsey joined us in May to discuss her career and her work in Congo as a fellow at the Ellen Stone Belic Institute for the Study of Women and Gender in the Arts and Media.
